Electrical Energy from Source to Destination

How does energy from a power plant escape before it gets to its destination? How does that loss affect how much energy is available in your home?

Improving efficiency at all points of the energy process can help to improve our overall energy outlook.

Using this activity, help students to analyze how the energy obtained from a resource, travels to eventually power a lightbulb.

By the end of the activity, students will be able to:

1. Create a bar graph showing the amount of electrical energy available in each step of the energy process, from source to destination

2. Draw conclusions about electrical energy

3. Formulate and write an argument explaining their observations and support it with evidence from the data
