What do your kids usually notice when visiting the zoo? Are they awed by the orangutans? Do they shriek when the lions roar and giggle while the sea lions play?

The zoo is certainly a lot of fun, and that makes it a great tool for teaching kids (and parents!) about conservation!

Experiencing animals safely up close is a wonderful way to learn about them, and learning about them brings us closer to being able to protect them.

All kinds of animals need our help. Poaching, habitat loss, and climate change are contributing to declining animal populations worldwide.

So what’s a kid to do? One of the best ways to help endangered animals is just to raise awareness about their plight. That awareness will help us collectively make better decisions about the quality of life for all species on our planet.

The creatures in zoos serve as ambassadors for animals out in the wild. So get up close and personal with these threatened animals, from the ring-tailed lemur to the blue-throated macaw, by playing a game!

The National Geographic Kids team has created a bingo game for kids and families to take to the zoo. Each animal on the sheet has been identified as endangered on the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species.

We’ve even created different versions of the game so families can play against each other. How many animals can you spot? Find four in a row, and you’ve won bingo!
